A Faiytale Engagement

Wednesday, 19 February 2025

Hey, my Selkies! Hope you're all well, I'm currently on cloud nine and I'm sure the title gave it away, I'm engaged! I don't want it to come off as bragging because I'm just genuinely happy and I deserve this happiness as much as anyone else, February 15th was my 10 yr anniversary with James which has gone by extremely fast, we met on Tinder back in the day and have gone through a lot of crap together and here we are still standing.

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day and he surprised me with flowers and chocolates and a beautiful card when I got home, then the day after we celebrated our 10 years together. I gave him a pair of Vans that match mine because I'm sad like that, and then we headed to Polly Joke which is somewhere I mentioned on here before. We didn't realise we would be able to see seals that day too, I've been in the sea swimming with one near me but never seen them in a group relaxing on the beach like this before, it's very fitting considering they're selkies and my name has selkie in it!!

He proposed to me at the top of the cliff looking at the most beautiful view, I was terrified as me and heights don't mix but in this situation, I wasn't as scared. I said yes, obviously and after we sat for a while looking down into the sea at the seals bobbing their heads in and out of the sea. The sky was moody and you could see the rain approaching in the distance. Some may say that kind of weather is rubbish, but for me, it felt perfect, I'm a huge fantasy lover and at the moment it was everything and more for me. It felt like I was in Poldark or Outlander which are two of my favourite shows to date. We are hoping to get hold of a seal Jellycat plushie to mark the day, I guess it's our good omen now.

The ring fits my personality perfectly too, I'm not a flashy jewellery kind of girl and prefer something dainty, I've chosen the style of wedding ring I want to go with it already. Once we returned home we had steak for our yearly anniversary meal, it was delicious, if I could I would eat steak every week but it's a bit costly. I know for a lot of people marriage is everything but I wasn't that worried about it as time went on this past year I grew to like the idea and here we are now. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next 10 years bring us.

In the meantime, life carries on as normal, I'm still making sure I'm treating my body with kindness to reach the goals I have set for myself. it's funny because each time these goals keep changing and I just want better for myself. I have one main goal in sight and that goal isn't changing any time soon. I will be back on here again with an update on plants!

Never lose hope.
